Adding Alexa Metrics to Your Website

-Steve Neville

Alexa.com’s metrics boast some of the most comprehensive and detailed statistics for your website, allowing you the ability to hyper-focus your data mining and make the right changes to increase page views to your website. However, one major issue that many of our clients and those we advise run into after signing up is the, seemingly, impossible task asked by Alexa to “add the metrics code to EVERY page of your website.”

While on the surface, this seems like a daunting request, the truth is there’s a clever trick to doing this that won’t take up all of your time.

For most, when you look at your website, you’ll notice there’s one area of your website that appears on every page you have: the footer. Meaning, if you want to add Alexa’s metrics to every single one of your pages, the easiest way to do this is to simply add the metrics code to the footer.php of your site. Which can easily be done either in the CPanel of your hosting site, under “File Manager” (just look for footer.php once there), or in the theme editor in your WordPress dashboard.

Once the code is added to the footer then, by default, it is also added to every other page you have; saving you time and frustration, and eliminating the “fright” of the thought of having to add the metrics code to every single page of your website.
